I've just uploaded a new product!
This product has six worksheets all about word families. Each page covers two different word families.
Students colour the words in the box at the top. The words from the same
word family are coloured in the same colour. Then students write the
words from each word family in the boxes below to make a list. There are
a few extra words that aren't in the word family so that they have to
be attentive to the letters in the words. At the bottom there are some
words to trace in Victorian Modern Cursive.
The word families included are:
-at / -og
-ed / -op
-ot / -ip
-it / -en
-in / -ap
-ig / -et
I'm giving three copies away, so if you're interested in trying out this product leave me a comment and I'll email it to you!

Roll Write Read & Bright Classroom Rules
I'm on spring holidays at the moment and I have just found motivation to make some TpT products again! Yay! I put two new ones up yesterday.
The first is a set of classroom rules. A few weeks ago I uploaded some of chalkboard-style background, but they didn't look right in my classroom this year. I re-worked them, changed the border and background colour and made the Bright Classroom Rules.
There are five rules in this pack:
I love these rules because they are short and concise. When I first introduced them I read them to my class and they said them back to me. We also talked about what each rule meant. I have them displayed in my classroom and they look really cute - so clean and simple!
The other product I uploaded is a Roll Write Read pack. It has 13 different activity pages. The idea is that students will roll a six-sided dice, then trace over the next work/letter in the list underneath the number they rolled. It combines reading, subitising dice-dots and handwriting! Love that!
The pack includes two sets of sheets. One set is Victorian Modern Cursive and the other set is a simple print font.
Included are:
Single letters (4 sheets)
CVC words (3 sheets)
Four letter words (1 sheet)
Magic E words (1 sheet)
Colour words (1 sheet)
Ch sh th words (1 sheet)
Word families (2 sheet)
These could be laminated for multiple uses, slid into sheet protectors, or used as-is as worksheets. They are all black and white so they're easy on the printer ink. I'll be using these as part of my reading groups activities, but they could be used as fast-finisher work, writing centres, whole group activities, or for home schooling purposes.

Five for ...whoops! I'm late!
It's Tuesday morning. I forgot to link up to Five for Friday, but I'm doing it now. I'm dawdling at home a bit this morning because I have a School Council meeting after school which means I'll be at school until 9pm. No need to be at school before 8am today!

On Thursday my class worked on making Father's Day cards. Here is our awesome card. On the inside it compares the card-receiver to superheroes (eg. you are as brave as Batman). We did lots of talking about how Father's Day things don't just have to be for fathers (I've got a few kids without dads).
-two-
We also did some handprints which we turned into superheroes:
-three-
Up until last week I had individual jobs for my students - everyone had a job. It was frustrating having to check the board every time I needed a student to do their job, because I couldn't remember who was doing which job that week. So, last week I introduced Daily Helpers. Two different kids each day get to do all of the jobs for the day. It's working so much better already!
-four-
I also made new classroom rules. Only five of them. We repeat them each morning - my kids are getting a bit restless with the end of term 3 approaching and they needed a reminder about appropriate behaviour.
-five-
I have also introduced iPad time for my whole class twice a week. I use iPad time for a few of my kids as 'break' time (those that need it) but some of the other kids were playing up to try to 'get a break'. So instead, every Monday and Friday my whole class gets 10-15min on the iPad straight after recess time - they love it!!
Off to work, now!

Two Freebies at my TpT store!
My blogging frequency is getting better. And so is my product-making! I've uploaded three new things in the past couple of days. Today's two new ones are FREE!!
The first is a pack for the digraph /ng/ but only focusing on words with 'ing at the end (not as a suffix). For example, it includes the words sing, swing, wing, ring and king. There is a worksheet, a set of five puzzles and a Clip It style set of cards, where you clip the picture the has 'ing at the end.
I will be using this pack this term, coupled with my Sh Ch Th Digraph Pack. We have finished learning the letters of the alphabet and next we learn these common digraphs.
The second is a product called Alphabet Monsters Spin the Wheel Spelling or Phonics Task. You print two pages, laminate them, and then attached them together with a split pin. This means you can spin the front wheel around and only show one picture at a time through a chunk cut out of the front wheel. Students could use it to practice initial sounds, final sounds or spelling tricky words. The two sheets are different because one covers the letters A-P and the other is K-Z.
I have a set of cards similar to this that I inherited from the previous teacher who taught prep at my school. I have absolutely no idea where she got them from! If you have seen something similar please let me know, I'd love to give credit where it's due. I use this as a reading group task later in the year when my kids are ready for a challenge in their spelling and thinking about phonics.
These are free, so check them out! I'd love to hear any feedback about these.

New product: Sh Th Ch Digraph Pack
I have been really terrible with posting on this blog and making products lately. It's been a very busy couple of weeks, and I just haven't had the motivation. Until tonight!!
I've made a new product, which I'd been meaning to make for ages. It is a pack of five different activities to work with the digraphs /sh/, /th/, and /ch/. The pack includes a set of worksheets, a set of Clip It cards, a set of puzzles, a set of cards to use for Memory and a set of cards and headings to use for sorting. As I think of more activity ideas I will add them to the pack. Here is a look at the different pages.
As it's a brand new product I will be giving a copy away to a lucky winner. Just leave a comment on this blog post and I will send a copy of the pack to the winner next weekend. I will be printing and using this pack in my classroom during term 3 so when I do I will write a post about it.

I made my first font!
After ooh-ing and aah-ing over all of the amazing custom fonts that I've seen lately I asked a few friends what they used to make their fonts, and now I've had a go! Introducing the first ever LLL font: LLL Handwriting.
It is a handwriting font like the one I teach my preps in Victoria, Australia. I used iFont Maker to create it. It is available as a free download from my TeachersPayTeachers store. You can click on the picture to get to it. I'd love to get a bit of feedback about it if you choose to download it, seeing as it is my first font ever.

It contains:
- 100s charts with different numbers missing for different abilities or grade levels
- 100 is 10 groups of 10 maths sheets, two version

It will be a great pack to use on your 100th Day of School. I can't wait to use it for ours, which is still a couple of months away. I have made different versions of some of the activities so that they can be differentiated across ability levels and can be used at different grade levels.
I even wrote an original poem!! I'm definitely not a poet, but it is something for our students to read and it has rhyming words, too.
I had fun making it, and I hope you have fun using it!

Rainbow rice
I coloured some rice today! I'm making a 'sensory activity tub' for my prep class. I haven't totally decided what I will do with it now, but there are heaps of cool ideas floating around the web so I'm definitely not stumped for inspiration or ideas. It will definitely be something I use as a reading group when we get that up and running, but for now I think I'll make it part of my Fine Motor Skills lessons. Maybe using tweezers to pick beads up out of the rice-filled tub. Here is a picture of them drying:
I used natural food colouring which is why the colours are more pastel/muted. I put rice in a big zip-lock bag, added the food colouring and a good big squirt of rubbing alcohol, then mixed it all up. They are laying outside in the sun drying off now. I'm looking forward to mixing them up! Then we'll have rainbow rice!
